Johan Mojica, Hero in Mallorca’s Triumph

In a breathtaking encounter at Las Palmas, Colombian defender Johan Mojica stole the spotlight, delivering an unforgettable performance that secured a vital 3-2 victory for Mallorca. The 32-year-old left-back, fresh off international duty with the Colombian national team, spectacularly returned to his club, contributing both an assist and a sensational last-minute goal.

Mojica’s Impactful Performance

Mojica, playing his 13th match of the season for Mallorca, was a force to be reckoned with throughout the 90 minutes. His first standout moment came in the 56th minute when he provided a sublime assist. From his position on the left flank, Mojica delivered a perfectly weighted cross to the edge of the box, where Robert Navarro coolly slotted it home to give Mallorca a 2-0 lead.

As the match wore on, Las Palmas mounted a comeback. Goals from Dário Essugo in the 77th minute and a penalty converted by Fábio Silva in the 83rd minute leveled the score at 2-2, setting the stage for a tense finale.

Decisive Late Drama

The game reached a boiling point in the 88th minute when Vedat Muriqi was sent off following a VAR review. This gave Las Palmas a numerical advantage, but Mojica had other plans. In the 91st minute, Mallorca earned an indirect free kick after a heated exchange led to referee intervention.

With the weight of the match on his shoulders, Mojica stepped up. Unleashing a left-footed strike, he sent the ball curling into the top right corner, leaving the Las Palmas goalkeeper helpless and securing a dramatic victory for Mallorca. This was Mojica’s first goal for the club, and his decisive performance elevated Mallorca to sixth place in La Liga, keeping their European qualification aspirations alive.
